State police filed charges on Tuesday against an Ellwood City man who crashed head-on into another vehicle, causing injuries to a 3-year-old boy who was not properly restrained in his truck.

Mark R. Bacon, 33, of Glen Avenue, was charged with two counts of child endangering, possessing a small amount of cocaine, possessing drug paraphernalia, driving with a license suspended because of a drunk driving charge, driving without a license failing to drive within his lane, careless driving and failing to use a child restraint system.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Portersville Road, near Hickernell Road in Wayne Township.

Bacon, police said, was traveling along Portersville Road in a pickup truck when he went left of center and hit another vehicle head-on.

Bacon and the driver of the other vehicle were not seriously injured. Bacon was not wearing a seatbelt.

The 3-year-old boy was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries.
