Document indicates OH child buried in December

HILLSBORO, Ohio (AP) — Court documents indicate a child whose body was recovered last week from a southwest Ohio woods is believed to have been buried there in December.

The Hillsboro Times-Gazette (http://bit.ly/19F9yoR ) reports that a document filed in Hillsboro Municipal Court gives the “violation date” as Dec. 18, 2012. It was filed in connection with charges against Garin Niehaus’ (NEE’-hows’) mother and her boyfriend.

Authorities have charged 26-year-old Whitney Johnson and 25-year-old Nathan Ritze of Richmond, Ky., with felony counts of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Police had no attorney information for Johnson and Ritze, who were jailed Monday in Hillsboro pending a Wednesday court appearance.

Police say Johnson told investigators the child had pneumonia, and a coroner said preliminary examination didn’t show any obvious physical trauma to his body.
