Man plummets to death in ravine fleeing Ga. police

MACON, Ga. (AP) — A man running from police in Georgia jumped over a fence and died after plummeting into a ravine.

A statement released by police in the city of Macon on Wednesday said the man ignored a warning from one of the officers who knew the ravine was on the other side of the fence.

The suspect began to run as police were questioning him and another man spotted sitting in a car behind a closed sporting goods store about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police pepper-sprayed and subdued the other suspect when he became combative.

Authorities did not release the names or ages of the two suspects.

The Telegraph newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/181PMpk) that the man fell an estimated 50 to 60 feet.
