Search continues for missing Ohio toddler

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An east Toledo neighborhood is trying to help a family deal with the weekend disappearance of their 1-year-old daughter.

Neighbors held a candlelight vigil Tuesday night to pray for the return of Elaina Steinfurth, who went missing Sunday.

The (Toledo) Blade (http://bit.ly/11rfq1u ) reports Elaina’s father went to the mother’s residence to pick up his two daughters, but only Elaina’s 4-year-old sister could be found.

Authorities have been searching homes and vacant buildings in area neighborhoods since then.

Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said Tuesday they still don’t know if Elaina is lost, was abducted, or something worse. The search was to continue Wednesday, with the FBI assisting local authorities.
