YBI Gets Donation

Executives with the Youngstown Business Incubator are a step closer to reaching a lofty goal.

Merrill Lynch officials in Canfield presented a $7,500 check to the incubator staff to help cover some of YBI’s routine operations and maintenance expenses.

The donation comes from Merrill Lynch’s parent company, Bank of America, and its charitable foundation.

Sid Jones, of the Merrill Lynch Jones Group, said the incubator and its various companies have helped lead a re-birth in the area.

YBI officials are trying to raise $2 million to cover operational expenses. They’ve received about $1 million in the last seven months.

“Here we’re really being able to involve the firm,” Jones said. “Bank of America-Merrill Lynch is willing to step forward and write a check and I hope this is just the beginning. You know it’s a large firm and it has great compassion for a community like Youngstown.”
