Divers search river in hunt for Ohio toddler

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say divers are expected to resume searching in a northwest Ohio river in the hunt for an 18-month-old girl missing since last weekend.

Divers from the Toledo Fire Department spent the day Thursday in the Maumee River looking for clues into the disappearance of Elaina Steinfurth. They are expected to resume the search on Friday.

The (Toledo) Blade (http://bit.ly/11wBaZY ) reports that Elaina was last seen Sunday in her east Toledo neighborhood.

Elaina’s father went to the mother’s residence to pick up his two daughters, but only Elaina’s 4-year-old sister could be found.

Authorities have also been searching homes and vacant buildings in area neighborhoods. The FBI is assisting.
