Obama says cybersecurity is ‘uncharted waters’

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) — President Barack Obama says in some ways cybersecurity is, in his words, “uncharted waters.”

Obama says he and Chinese President Xi Jinping (shee jihn-peeng) have spoken about cybersecurity at the “40 thousand foot level.” He says they’ll discuss the issue further at a dinner Friday evening.

Obama spoke after meeting for more than two hours with Xi at a desert estate outside Palm Springs, Calif. Obama and Xi are holding two days of talks on high-stakes issues, including cybersecurity and North Korea’s nuclear threats. It’s the first meeting between the two leaders since Xi took office in March.
