Pa. missing person case now homicide investigation

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (AP) — A missing-person search has turned into a homicide investigation after human remains were found this week in a wooded area of north-central Pennsylvania.

Clearfield County District Attorney William Shaw says that 40-year-old Ronald Bruce Ford Jr. of San Diego, Calif., was reported missing in February after failing to contact his family. He was living in Centre County.

Shaw said Friday that remains were found this week in a wooded area in Covington Township in Clearfield County. A forensics team found additional evidence.

Shaw says Ford’s family in California has been notified, and that authorities hope to make a positive identification soon.

Search warrants have been issued in both Centre and Clearfield counties.
