Jefferson’s own Zak Blair was taken in the 20th round by the Chicago Cubs (588th pick) of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. Zak, a second baseman, was a fifth-year senior out of Mercyhurst College in Erie.

Blair led the Lakers in many offensive categories such as batting average (.329), runs scored (26), base hits (57), and doubles (12). The former Falcon struck out just 9 times in 192 plate appearances in 2013.

The former Under Armour High School Baseball All-American played in the Cape Cod League last summer where he was named All-League.
