Philly-area man charged in wife’s stabbing death

HATFIELD, Pa. (AP) — A southeastern Pennsylvania man has been charged in the stabbing death of his wife during an early morning dispute.

Thirty-six-year-old Walid Mitwalli of Hatfield Township in Montgomery County is charged with first-degree homicide and possession of an instrument of crime.

Authorities said police officers called to the home at about 3:30 a.m. Friday on a report of a domestic dispute found Mitwalli’s 30-year-old wife dead. Her name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

The (Doylestown) Intelligencer says Mitwalli filed for divorce on April 9 in county court.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17 in district court in Souderton.

A listed number for Mitwalli could not be found Saturday and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
