Customer shot after SW Philly deli robbery

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say a customer who chased a suspect after a robbery at a southwest Philadelphia was shot and critically wounded.

WPVI-TV (http://bit.ly/1bgZQqF ) says a man armed with a handgun entered the Under The Apple Tree deli just after 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Police said he robbed the six people inside of their money and cellphones and then fled.

But Lt. John Walker said one of the robbery victims jumped into his vehicle and chased the suspect to a nearby intersection, where the suspect fired multiple times.

Police said the victim was taken to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in critical condition but was later upgraded to serious condition.

Authorities said a suspect was later arrested and will be facing six counts of robbery and one count of attempted murder.
