Two women were taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon after a two-car crash in front of the hospital at East Market Street and Laird Avenue.
Rescuers had to use the jaws of life to free the victims from a red Cavalier, which sustained major damage. The driver of the other car was able to drive it off the street and into a gas station parking lot.
A power outage that affected traffic signals is being blamed for the crash, but it is still under investigation. There is no information on the women’s identities or the extent of their injuries.
Warren City Engineer Paul Makosky said that intersection has historically been an area with a higher than average number of accidents.
