Patron apparently drowns in lake near Pa. tavern

WATERFORD, Pa. (AP) — An autopsy was set on the body of a man believed to have drowned in a lake just outside a northwestern Pennsylvania bar, where he was attending a fundraising event.

The Erie County coroner was withholding the man’s identity until after Monday’s autopsy, but says it appears the man drowned Sunday outside the Lakeside Tavern in Waterford Township.

State police say other patrons pulled the man from the water about 5:45 p.m. Sunday. It was not immediately clear if the man fell, was pushed or jumped into the water.

Troopers say the man had been playing pool in the tavern during a fundraiser for a pregnant woman when he left and went outside and into the waters of Lake LeBoeuf (lah-BUF’).

The man was pronounced dead about 7 p.m. at UPMC Hamot hospital in Erie.
