State Trooper Involved in Accident in Austintown

Two vehicles collided at a Youngstown intersection and one of them slid into an Ohio State Highway Patrol car.

A three car accident involving a State Highway Patrol car in Austintown sent one man to the hospital.

It happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. Sunday near the corner of State Route 46 and Mahoning Avenue.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel Deluca was traveling south on state Route 46, and was turning on to Mahoning Avenue when Elizabeth Hoelzel turned into the path of a Dodge Durango, driven by Justin Davis.

The accident caused one of the cars to flip over on to its roof and slide into the trooper’s crusier.

The driver of the Durango, Justin Davis, was taken to Saint Elizabeth Health Center with minor injuries.

Trooper Deluca was not injured in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
