Woman, 87, fatally stabbed during Pa. burglary

HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) — Police say an 87-year-old woman was fatally stabbed during an apparent burglary that happened while she was visiting family in central Pennsylvania for her great-granddaughter’s high school graduation.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday in Derry Township. Authorities say Joyce Roth was stabbed in the chest by an unknown attacker and that she later died at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

First Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo says there are items missing from the home and it appears to be some sort of burglary. Chardo says Roth is believed to be from the Allentown area and was in the Hershey area visiting family for the graduation.

Police are seeking information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious.
