Florida authorities seek Steelers stabbing suspect

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies in northern Florida have joined the search for a third suspect in the robbery and stabbing of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams.

A spokesman with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in Lake City, Fla., tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://bit.ly/12DpEzk ) that deputies began searching early Tuesday for 26-year-old Jerrell Whitlock, of Pittsburgh.

Two other men are already jailed on charges they robbed Adams as he left a restaurant on the city’s club- and bar-laden South Side before 3 a.m. June 1 and tried to steal his car.

Police have charged Whitlock with attempted homicide and other crimes for allegedly stabbing Adams. Police say another suspect punched the player while the third held Adams at gunpoint.

Adams had surgery for stab wounds to his leg and forearm and is expected to recover by training camp on July 26.
