Young men from the Boy Scouts of America Greater Western Reserve Council are getting a lesson on leadership skills this week at Camp Stambaugh in Canfield.
The National Youth Leadership Training Camp is a seven-day program where young men learn all about leadership skills. They work in teams the entire time of the camp and take turns as leaders of their group.
The youth take part in many different activities and team building skills. Organizers said they’re supposed to take what they learn and apply it in school and in their community.
“If you look at it in the long picture, it’s building our country. It’s developing leaders for our future generations. So this is the foundation for us,” said James Rapone of the Boy Scouts of America Greater Western Reserve Council.
The camp will wrap up Saturday with a final feast and ceremony, where all of the scouts will receive an award for completing the program.
