The Trumbull County man accused of stealing a car, with a sleeping boy in the backseat, was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Our print partner, The Tribune Chronicle, reported that Judge Peter Kontos delivered the sentence on Monday.

Ross Francis told the judge he shouldn’t be punished for being an alcoholic.

In October of 2012, Francis stole a car parked in a Niles driveway.  Mikey Babuka, 3, was in the backseat at the time of the theft.

Babuka was located by an off-duty Warren Police officer, not long after an AMBER alert was issued.
