Coroner: 1 victim in Pa. fire had drugs in system

POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A coroner says a man who died in house fire that killed four children and two adults in eastern Pennsylvania on Mother’s Day had drugs in his system.

The Republican-Herald reports ( ) Schuylkill County Coroner David Moylan says a toxicology report conducted on the body of 31-year-old Eric Brown found amphetamine, methamphetamine and a substance found in marijuana.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the May 12 blaze, which began in the kitchen. But they say it’s not considered suspicious.

The fire killed Brown, his sister-in-law, 26-year-old Kristina Thomas, and Brown’s children: 2-year-old Elijah Brown; 3-year-old Emily Brown; 7-year-old Jeremiah Brown; and 8-year-old Joy Brown. Their mother had been at a neighbor’s house doing laundry at the time.
