NE Pa. lawmaker settles trip-and-fall lawsuit

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — A northeastern Pennsylvania legislator has settled a trip-and-fall lawsuit involving an uneven sidewalk.

State Rep. Marty Flynn was running for office when he tripped over the sidewalk in West Scranton while jogging in March 2011. He says he suffered a bruised elbow and slightly separated shoulder.

Court records show the suit has been settled and Flynn says the settlement was for $566. The Times-Tribune reports ( Flynn says all he wanted was to get his medical bills covered.

The suit was filed in November in Lackawanna County Court, after Flynn was elected. It named the homeowners and residents of the home, saying they had a responsibility to keep the sidewalk safe.

A message left with an attorney for homeowners wasn’t immediately returned.
