Crews suspend search for missing Ohio swimmer

CINCINNATI (AP) — Water rescue crews have suspended their search for a swimmer missing in the Little Miami River near Mariemont, east of downtown Cincinnati.

Mariemont Assistant Fire Chief Tim Feichtner (FEYEK’-nur) says the search for 19-year-old Otis Andrews was suspended Wednesday afternoon. He says divers were exhausted from fighting strong currents all day and officials grew concerned about their safety.

Feichtner says the search will continue Thursday with more divers, if weather conditions allow them to be on the water. Weather forecasters said there was a risk of storms moving in overnight.

Feichtner says Andrews went missing while swimming in the river with five other people on Tuesday night. Feichtner says rescue crews searched several hours late Tuesday and resumed the search Wednesday.
