Several remain hospitalized after Ky. bus wreck

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Several people remain hospitalized a day after a bus carrying students on a college campus visit crashed on a Kentucky interstate.

Louisville police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said Wednesday that investigators are looking into what caused the bus to veer out of control and hit a concrete median Tuesday. Investigators are looking into possible mechanical failure, which could include tire trouble.

Authorities said 30 students from Waggener High School went to hospitals after the crash, as did four adults aboard the bus.

University of Louisville Hospital spokesman David McArthur says six people remained hospitalized Wednesday, all in satisfactory to fair conditions.

Norton Healthcare spokeswoman Maggie Roetker says one student is still hospitalized at Kosair Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The group was returning from a visit to Eastern Kentucky University.
