Mom of missing 1-year-old girl arrested in NW Ohio

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Court documents say the mother of a missing 1-year-old girl in northwest Ohio knew her daughter had been seriously injured and didn’t seek medical help.

A judge in Toledo on Thursday set bond at $250,000 for Angela Steinfurth. She is charged with felony child endangering.

Steinfurth, who’s listed in jail records as Angela Mories, was taken into custody Wednesday. She appeared in court with a public defender who didn’t comment on the charges.

The woman’s 1-year-old daughter, Elaina Steinfurth, was last seen June 2. That’s when the girl’s father went to the mother’s residence to pick up his two daughters, but only Elaina’s 4-year-old sister could be found.

The Blade newspaper reports authorities and volunteers have searched homes, vacant buildings, parks and other areas for any sign of Elaina.
