Friends, colleagues and community members came together  Thursday night for a retirement party honoring Dr. Cynthia Anderson.

After three years as president, and a lengthy career at YSU, she’ll officially retire at the end of the month.

Anderson said she’s humbled and overwhelmed by the amount of people that came out tonight, and have supported her through the years.

“I hope that people realize what a wonderful community we have and what a wonderful university we have and all the strides, there is a wonderful future out there for Youngstown, Ohio and Youngstown State University,” said Anderson.

Anderson was the first Mahoning Valley resident, first YSU grad, and first woman to lead the university.
