YORK, Pa. (AP) — Two boys have been rescued from a central Pennsylvania creek after they somehow ended up stranded in the water while fishing.

It happened in the Codorus Creek in downtown York on Thursday afternoon. Officials say they boys were fishing near a bridge when they ended up in the water. The river had been swollen because of heavy rains that swept across the state.

Officials say they boys, ages 12 and 13, were pulled safely to shore by crews responding to a 911 call.
