SUV crashes into DC-area Wendy’s; 3 to hospital

LANHAM, Md. (AP) — Police in suburban Washington have taken a man into custody after his SUV crashed into a Wendy’s restaurant, causing several injuries.

Officer Nicole Hubbard of the Prince Georges County police said the collision happened at about 8:50 p.m. Friday when the burgundy SUV crashed into a Wendy’s in Lanham.

The vehicle went through a front window and almost all the way up to the counter.

She said a patron and an employee of the restaurant were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It was unclear if they were actually struck. A female employee was taken to the hospital later for anxiety.

Hubbard said the driver has been taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. His name was not immediately released.
