Community Workday Held in Idora Park Neighborhood

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation said the goal is to create safer and healthier neighborhoods throughout Youngstown.

A local organization is helping with the fight against blight in Youngstown.

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation boarded up two vacant houses on Glenwood Avenue in the Idora Neighborhood on Saturday.

Residents helped out, as well as members of the Tabernacle Presbyterian Evangelical Church in Austintown. Other volunteers were out doing beautification projects around the city.

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation said the goal is to create safer and healthier neighborhoods throughout Youngstown.

“It’s a beautiful neighborhood. Lots of friendly folks always come out to help and volunteer. We work in neighborhoods all over the city,” said Jack Daugherty, Program Dir., YNDC.

The organization meets the third Saturday of each month for the Community Workday.
