Charity names recipients

More than $100,000 was handed out Tuesday to local organizations to help needy children.

The William Swanston Charitable Fund released its 2013 grant list on Tuesday. Recipients include Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Camelot Center.

Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic will receive the largest portion of the grant at $30,000

OH WOW! Children’s Center in Youngstown will receive $5,000 and Inspiring Minds will get $10,000.

Someplace Safe in Warren will receive $15,000. Executive Director Bonnie Wilson said they will use the money to bring back community education programs, specifically dealing with teen dating violence, domestic violence and bullying.

“In 2012 Someplace Safe experienced some significant funding cuts which resulted in the loss of our community educator, so this will afford us the opportunity to bring that piece back,” Wilson said.
