Youngstown firefighters worked to control a house fire early Tuesday morning on the city’s South Side.

Flames broke out just before 2 a.m. at a vacant house in the 700 block of East Florida Avenue.

Firefighters sprayed the house next door to keep flames from spreading.

It is unclear what sparked the blaze, but the house is a total loss.

Neighbors said just last month a house next door caught fire. A search of our news archives confirms a May 17 fire at a vacant house in the same area. In that fire, flames damaged the back part of a house and a detached garage.
