City unveils new volleyball courts

There is one more thing people can do if they visit Perkins Park in downtown Warren.

Officials on Thursday unveiled new outdoor sand volleyball courts.

The Warren Harding High School girls’ volleyball team was the first to try them out.

The courts were constructed through a collaboration between the city and Warren City Schools, which donated the nets and the poles for the project.

“All the labor for this project was donated by Dave Grayson, and the city and the schools are very appreciative of that,” said Warren Mayor Doug Franklin. “This doesn’t happen without that generosity, and we have three courts for the price of one by his generosity, by donating the labor.”

With the donated labor, the city saved between $10,000 and $15,000 on the installation of the courts.
