Mahoning County commissioners voted Thursday to appoint a new dog warden.

Diane Fry will replace former warden Matt Ditchey. Fry currently works for Austintown Township and comes with financial and administrative experience.

The dog pound is undergoing some changes with several plans on the table to upgrade the facility.

“She has a plan for our dog pound,” said Mahoning County Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti. “She’s energetic. I think she brings a new approach. I think she’ll be fine.”

Fry is expected to take over on July 8.
