Woman arrested after leaving children alone in car

A Youngstown woman faces three counts of child endangering.

Kalynn Agosto-Cruz, 18, was charged Wednesday after allegedly leaving her three sisters ages, 1, 4, and 6 alone in an unlocked car in the parking lot of the Southern Park Mall while she went inside to get her cell phone fixed.

According to police reports, Agosto-Cruz returned to the vehicle to find a Boardman police officer standing by the car. When the officer asked her about the incident she stated that “I was only inside for like five minutes.”

Officers arrested Agosto-Cruz at the scene and waited while her mother came to pick up the children.

Agosto-Cruz was taken to the Boardman Police Department and was released. She was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
