Friday marks the first day of summer and with that comes soaring temperatures and an air quality advisory for the area.
According to the advisory issued by the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s will create ozone formation in the region and light winds will limit pollution dispersion.
The air quality index for Friday and Saturday are at 106 and 101. Conditions will be unhealthy for sensitive groups on Friday and throughout the day on Saturday.
The extended forecast, including Sunday through Wednesday, show moderate conditions with no advisories. Air quality indexes will range between 58 and 77.
