Authorities assess damage from storm that killed 1

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Authorities are assessing the damage from storm that killed a woman and seriously injured two other people yesterday in South Dakota.

The Hamlin County Sheriff says a 63-year-old woman was killed after she hunkered down in the bathtub in her trailer on the east side of Lake Poinsett when a storm lifted the structure and dropped it to the ground. Her husband was seriously injured.

The sheriff also says a worker at a cheese plant in nearby Lake Norden suffered serious injuries from an electrical shock, possibly from being struck by lightning while working on a water tower.

The sheriff says at least 10 homes were destroyed and another 10 were seriously damaged.
