Luau held at Lily Pond

People took to a local pond on the first weekend of summer to help raise money.

It was the first annual Luau at the Lily Pond. People dressed in their finest Hawaiian clothing to go along with the Luau theme.

All the money raised at the event will go to restore the pond. Event organizer Lou Schiavoni said the pond is in dire need of repairs.

“This pond was built in 1896, so it has been a staple in the park forever,” said Schiavoni. “When I came down to just look at it, the water clarity looked down, there was vegetation everywhere. So, we just wanted to do something, but we are not done yet.”

The event featured food, raffles and live music.

The park plans to make the Luau an annual event.
