Runners race for charity

Runners once again used their passion to help raise money for a great cause.

Dozens of athletes participated Saturday in the Knights of Columbus 5K Run and Walk in Boardman

This the third straight year the event was sponsored by members at St. Charles Church.

Prizes were given to the top three female and male runners, but the organizer Ed Kandray said the real winners are those who will be helped by the all the money raised.

“We give everything back to the community, anything for the needy. The soup kitchen, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Martha’s Cupboard. Last year alone, we put over 18,000 back into the greater Youngstown area for the needy,” said Kandray.

The winner of the race was Ryan Delbene with a time of 17:12.
