Ohio woman releases python at mobile home park

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Police have warned the owners of an Athens mobile home park that a woman living there released her 4 ½-foot python outside because she could no longer afford to feed it.

The woman told a deputy sheriff Monday that she released the python at Sandstone Terrace Mobile Home Park on Sunday night. She says she couldn’t afford to feed it and she didn’t want a hungry snake in her home. She says she hoped to run over it with a lawn mower later.

The sheriff’s department notified mobile home park’s owners and are seeking more information from people with knowledge of snakes.
