PITTSBURGH (AP) — A homeless man who police say has a history of mental health issues has been jailed on charges he threatened two people with an ax in a city park, including a black man at whom he yelled “God bless the KKK.”
Online court records don’t list an attorney for 39-year-old Frederic Park, who remained Jailed Monday. Police say Park swung the ax at one man in Frick Park, who he then followed, before accosting the other victim, who is black.
Park is charged with ethnic intimidation because of his alleged remarks in the second attack, along with one count each of aggravated assault in both incidents.
Police say they’ve cited park for threats and harassment in December, and say Park told them he’s been living in nearby woods since his father kicked him out months ago.
