Scrappers edged by Auburn

Auburn held off Mahoning Valley, 2-1, in New York-Penn League action on Monday night.

Cleveland Indians’ pitchers Brett Myers and Blake Wood each tossed a scoreless inning in the loss.

The Doubledays got on the board in the first inning on Jordan Poole’s RBI single. Jean Carlos Valdez capped off the Auburn scoring with an RBI single in the seventh inning.

Robel Garcia drove in the only run for Mahoning Valley with an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Mahoning Valley drops to 3-5, while Auburn improves to 4-4.
