Two new businesses are getting ready to set up shop in Bazetta Township.

Quaker Steak and Lube has signed a lease to build a new food service restaurant and bar off Elm Road near the Millenium Plaza area between McDonalds and Walmart.

A new service station will also be constructed in the same area. Murphy’s Oil U.S.A. will start construction soon on a new franchise on Millenium Drive.

Bazetta Township Zoning Inspector Mike Mills said officials are excited about the jobs the new businesses will bring. Mills attributes the shale boom in the county as one of the reasons for the upswing in businesses moving into the area.

“As we know, there is a lot of money coming into this area from the shale projects going on around here. That brings resources from the outside,” said Mills. “People here, equated with that, have to have someplace to eat and hang out and stay.”

Both Quaker Steak and Lube and Murphy’s Oil plan to have the businesses up and operating by 2014.
