2 arrested in slaying on western Pa. walking trail

CLYMER, Pa. (AP) — State police in western Pennsylvania say two suspects have been arrested in the slaying of a man found shot to death on a walking trail.

Authorities in Indiana County say 46-year-old James Alexander was at a party with friends and later went for a walk along a trail in Clymer.

Deputy Coroner Jerry Overman said the friends reported hearing gunshots shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday along the trail near route 403 and later found Alexander’s body.

Police said Tuesday night that 33-year-old Gregory Patterson and 22-year-old Christopher Salsgiver, both of Glen Campbell, were arraigned on criminal homicide charges.

District Attorney Patrick Dougherty says both also face aggravated assault, robbery and conspiracy charges.

Listed phone numbers for the defendants couldn’t be found Tuesday; it was unclear whether they had attorneys.
