Youngstown firefighters worked overnight Monday battling a house fire on the city’s East Side.

Flames broke out at a house in the 300 block of Truesdale Avenue just after midnight.

No one was home at the time, but a dog was inside and died in the fire.

Crews at the scene said the fire started on the front porch, but the exact cause is not known.

The home is a total loss.
