Drivers and warehouse workers at RL Lipton Distributing in Austintown walked off the job early Tuesday morning.

The members of Teamsters Local 377 called a strike after negotiations broke down on Monday. Workers began picketing outside the business on Victoria Road on Tuesday.

A Teamsters union representative said the drivers and warehouse employees have been working without a contract since May.

Major stumbling blocks in the negotiations are wages and health care, specifically hospitalization.

At one point Tuesday morning, a scuffle occurred between security personnel and strikers as a truck was trying to leave the warehouse.

Calls made to company officials were not immediately returned.

RL Lipton Distributing Co. is a wholesale beverage distributor. Common brands include Anheuser-Bush products, Hansen Monster energy drinks, Yuengling beer products and other custom beer and wine products.
