BMV to lower late fees

Motorists who forget to renew their vehicle registration on time are getting a break from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Beginning July 1, the current late renewal fee will be reduced from $20 to $10. In addition, the previous 7-day grace period to renew registrations has been extended to 30 days.

Vehicle registrations typically expire on the motorist’s birthday.

Also in July, the bureau will start implementing a driver’s license reinstatement fee installment plan, allowing for drivers to become eligible to retest for their driver’s license.
