Kasich signs 6 bills into law

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sihk) has signed six new bills into law, including one requiring hospitals to screen newborns for congenital heart defects.

Others signed by the governor Thursday make changes to Ohio Workforce Development Law and consolidates the municipal courts of the cities of Tiffin and Fostoria in 2014.

Kasich has also signed legislation designating Sept. 10 as “Ohio Suicide Prevention Day, and October as “Manufacturing Month” in the state. The first week of October was designated as “Ohio Forest Products Awareness Week.”
