Laura Cassidy, a native of Canfield, competed Tuesday on “Wheel of Fortune,” winning more than $78,000.
Cassidy won $10,000 cash and a trip to St. Lucia during the early rounds. Then she won another $50,000 in the final round by solving the puzzle which was “Fight Song.”
In all, her winnings totaled $78,325. Cassidy is a grade school teacher now living in Florida.
In a blog on the “Wheel of Fortune” website, Cassidy said she decided to try out for a game show because of all her student loans. She said she has been a fan of “Wheel” since she was a young girl and remembers when Vanna White physically turned the letters on the board before touch technology became the mainstay.
She auditioned in Boca Raton, Fla., which is about four hours away from where she lives in Parrish. She said she took her older brother with her to the audition, and she found out five months ago that she would be on the show.
