Three vehicles collide on Route 14

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Route 14 in Unity Township.

Ryan Brown of East Palestine was driving east on state Route 14 about 1 p.m. waiting to turn left onto Hadley Road Extension when Julie Ford of Beaver Falls struck his Ford Focus from behind. The impact from Ford’s Chevy Trailblazer forced Brown into oncoming traffic, and he struck a westbound Buick Park Avenue head-on.

The impact from the crash sent the Buick’s driver, Tim Coakley of East Palestine, off the right side of the road and down an embankment, where it came to rest in a cornfield, according to a police report. Ford’s SUV also went down an embankment and came to rest in a field near a small creek.

Brown and Coakley were transported to the hospital by the East Palestine Fire Department. The patrol said neither suffered life-threatening injuries.
