Ex-Pa. teacher gets jail for molesting boy, 15

EBENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A former western Pennsylvania teacher will spend one to two years in the county jail after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography on his smartphone and molesting a 15-year-old boy last year.

Twenty-eight-year-old Shane Putorek, of Patton, lost his job as a music teacher in the Harmony School District after his arrest last year.

The teacher’s victim was a boy who stayed at Putorek’s apartment. Putorek was mentoring the boy because he was friends with the boy’s recently widowed mother.

Police say Putorek tried to take pictures of the boy showering by sliding a smartphone beneath the bathroom door of the teacher’s apartment, and later fondled the youth.

Putorek will be on probation for seven years after he’s released from jail, and must register as a sex offender.
