A 46-year-old man was fatally shot just before midnight Tuesday in Columbiana County.
Columbiana County Sheriff’s investigators said Michael Fisher was fatally shot on the porch of his Country Squire Mobile Home Park residence.
The man’s neighbor, Frank Gorichky, 53, was charged later in the day with murder. Investigators believe Gorichky shot Fisher once during an argument on his porch.
Gorichky is scheduled for an initial appearance Friday in Columbiana County Municipal Court.
Neighbor Caleb Rastetter said he heard a commotion before the shooting.
“I heard screaming and came outside and he was laying on the porch,” said Rastetter.
Neighbors described the two men as “drinking buddies” who were friends that would raise their voices every now and then.
“They were arguing, but that’s nothing new between those two,” said park manager Angelika Dean. “One of my residents came back and told me that he heard a shot gun. I went and seen and don’t want to believe it.”
Police said a witness was inside the home when the shooting happened and has been interviewed by investigators.
The state Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation was called to help process the crime scene.
Gorisky, according to a search of court records, was convicted of burglary and violating a protection order in 2006. He was sentenced to nine months in prison.
Fisher also had a criminal history involving numerous misdemeanor charges spanning from 1997 through 2011. Charges included domestic violence, receiving stolen property, assault and drug possession.
