Body of mowing man, 87, pulled from Pa. reservoir

CHARLEROI, Pa. (AP) — The body of an 87-year-old man has been pulled from a southwestern Pennsylvania reservoir, where officials say he was cutting grass and clearing brush when his vehicle slid down a steep bank and into the water.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco says 87-year-old Samuel Vignoli, of New Eagle, was using a compact tractor before he was discovered missing about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. His body was recovered from the reservoir of the former Maple Creek Mine in Fallowfield Township just after midnight Thursday.

An autopsy was planned, but results were not immediately available.

Investigators don’t suspect foul play, but were trying to determine whether Vignoli drowned, died from the tractor wreck or otherwise succumbed to a medical problem.
